Community Care's Christmas Song to Our Volunteers 2003
Driving through the snow
with the windows rolled up tight
seniors on the go
moving day and night
Meals on Wheels too
hot food tasting good
to keep Jack Frost away
and the warmth of feeling good
REFRAIN
OH (jingle bells)
Volunteers, volunteers
we honour you today
helping seniors live at home
in the good old County way
OH (jingle bells)
Take me here, take me there
take me everywhere
taking seniors shopping
for a new pair of underwear
VERSE
When there's someone who needs
A friendly visit please
We count on you to cheer anew
and chase the blues away
No matter what the chore
You're ready to explore
You're always there to help the folks
who need our help the most
REFRAIN
OH (jingle bells)
Volunteers, volunteers
we honour you today
helping seniors live at home
in the good old County way
OH (Jingle Bells)
Sweeping here, raking there
Shovelling the snow
Keeping seniors happy
Is the thing that you all know.
VERSE
To keep the coffers topped
You run the Thrift Shop
you have all kinds of things
to tempt a shoppers strings
You fix and clean and press
all things from pots to dress
you make things swell so they will sell
and you have fun as well
REFRAIN
OH(Jingle Bells)
Volunteers, volunteers
we honour you today
helping seniors live at home
in the good old County way
Selling here, selling there
Selling everywhere
You help to keep our programs
on for folks who need it most.
VERSE
We have one last thing to sing
to honour you again
we thank-you very much
for work done every day
We want to let you know
that lots of studies show
that volunteers live longer
than the folks with higher pay!

we honour you today
