Press Release

The results are in for Community Care’s Tag Day

In the 36th year that Community Care has organized Tag Day the agency realized $1,145.00. It was a “virtual” tag day this year as the event was moved online.

During the pandemic organizers couldn’t ask volunteers to do their traditional roles of having donation boxes around their necks while stationed at businesses throughout Picton, Bloomfield and Wellington.

“During a year when the weather is good and lots of volunteers sign up, we can realize $3,000.00. This year we invited people to visit our website and donate on the special Tag Day page to support seniors to live at home. It was all very low key and yet the community donated $1,145.00 and we’re very pleased and grateful,” commented Debbie MacDonald Moynes, executive director of Prince Edward Community Care. Moynes also recognized staff member Marjory Villneff for putting her exceptional computer design skills to the task of creating the special webpage.

The Prince Edward County Community Care for Seniors Association supports seniors to live at home. Services include hot and frozen Meals on Wheels; assistance with placing grocery orders by email or online; free pick-up and delivery of groceries/medicines/essentials and library books; reassurance programs; caregiver support; home maintenance; and foot care clinics. Services currently on hold are homemaking and escorted transportation. The agency is partly funded by the Ministry of Health and supported by donations and community fundraising efforts.
