Prince Edward Community Care responds to COVID-19
The Prince Edward County Community Care for Seniors Association announced today that it is temporarily placing selected programs on hold to reduce the risk of transmission of COVID-19.
The decision was made based on standards and guidelines from the Ministry of Health and Public Health and the risk factors associated with the spread of the virus. Programs being placed on temporary hold meet one or more of the following conditions: food sharing, prolonged gatherings, and close proximity (i.e. waiting rooms).
Programs temporarily on hold as of Monday, March 16 are Foot Care Clinics, Active Living Programs, Income Tax, support groups, seminars & Seniors Luncheon Social events.
Programs presently operating as originally scheduled, with ongoing rigorous active screening, are Meals on Wheels, Escorted Transportation, home maintenance, friendly visiting and reassurance programs.
Seniors and volunteers involved in any of Community Care’s ongoing programs are regularly contacted by telephone by staff members who ask them the questions on the COVID-19 “screener” as developed and distributed by the Ministry of Health.
Updates will be posted to the Community Care Facebook Page at www.facebook.com/CommunityCareforSeniors Call 613-476-7493 for further information.
