Legion Branch 78 supports Meals on Wheels
In its 35th year of Operation, Prince Edward Community Care also celebrates 32 years of Meals on Wheels in Prince Edward County. Since the beginning, Branch 78 of the Royal Canadian Legion in Picton has been there to attend to the needs of seniors living in this community. On hand to present a cheque for $1,500.00 from the Poppy Fund was Mike Slatter, Branch 78 and Zone Officer and Member of the Poppy Committee; and Rusty Harrison, Poppy Chairman for Branch 78 of the Royal Canadian Legion in Picton.
Upon accepting the cheque, John A. Jackson, President of The Prince Edward County Community Care for Seniors Association said "We are very grateful for the long-standing support of the Poppy Fund of the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 78 in Picton." "We'd like to be able to do more" added Mike Slatter.
The Legion offers a great deal to the community and welcomes new members. They also operate an extensive loan cupboard of assistive devices (wheelchairs, walkers, bath aids, etc.) For information call Legion Branch 78 at 613-476-3648.
