Bursting at the seams

Press ReleaseOctober 2, 2020 Bursting at the seams Volunteers at Community Care’s Thrift Shop at 153 Main Street in Picton report that the store is bursting at the seams.  Many people have spent time at home during the pandemic cleaning and sorting their closets, basements and garages.  They’ve been donating like never before. “It’s a new experience for everyone involved at the Thrift Shop.  People are literally bring truckloads of great things to donate and our volunteers are struggling with handling the volume,” commented Debbie MacDonald Moynes, executive director of Community Care for Seniors. The Thrift Shop team is grateful and everyone feels fortunate that people are so willing to donate their good used items to Community Care’s Thrift Shop.

The results are in for Community Care’s Tag Day

July 2, 2020 Press Release The results are in for Community Care’s Tag Day In the 36th year that Community Care has organized Tag Day the agency realized $1,145.00. It was a “virtual” tag day this year as the event was moved online. During the pandemic organizers couldn’t ask volunteers to do their traditional roles of having donation boxes around their necks while stationed at businesses throughout Picton, Bloomfield and Wellington. “During a year when the weather is good and lots of volunteers sign up, we can realize $3,000.00. May 29, 2020 Press Release Community Care’s Tag Day Another tradition is modified to meet today’s requirements in the 36th year that Community Care has organized Tag Day. The agency is holding a “virtual” tag day and has moved the event online. This year it’s not possible to have volunteers do their traditional roles for this important fundraiser. Most years volunteers have donation boxes around their necks and are stationed at businesses throughout Picton, Bloomfield and Wellington, taking shifts canvassing in each location. “People can visit our website to go to the special Tag Day page where they can make a donation to support seniors to live at home,” commented Debbie MacDonald Moynes, executive director of Prince Edward Community Care.

Prince Edward Community Care COVID-19 Services – UPDATED

PRESS RELEASE Friday, May 15, 2020 Prince Edward Community Care COVID-19 Services – UPDATED With the easing of restrictions Prince Edward Community Care has announced that they have reactivated the Home Maintenance program for grass cutting and garden work.  Physical distancing protocols to be strictly observed.
