Press Release October 23, 2020 A new way to stay connected   Prince Edward Community Care for Seniors has launched its latest fundraising effort with a unique box of 33 handcrafted cards that come in an attractive keepsake box.          The local charity provides services for seniors to support the choice to live at home in the community.  Community Care has been supporting seniors in The County for over 40 years. Community Care Ramps Up Programming To Get Seniors Moving

“We’ve been working hard to expand our active living programming to reach more people” commented Debbie MacDonald Moynes, Executive Director of Community Care for Seniors.  Responding to requests for more fitness classes, the agency has announced the ramping up of offerings to 5 days a week. Virtual classes and socials are now available mornings at 10:30am and afternoons at 2pm with a sprinkling of other events added in at different times.  Some of the morning fitness titles include “Pilates”, “Gentle Moves”, “Chair Yoga”, “Natural Movement for Seniors” and “Mildly Spicy Moves!”  The afternoon activities and socials include “Social with a Smile”, “Painting for Beginners – Owl in the Wild”, “Leaf Art Linens”, and socials with musical guests and trivia.  All

Bursting at the seams

Press ReleaseOctober 2, 2020 Bursting at the seams Volunteers at Community Care’s Thrift Shop at 153 Main Street in Picton report that the store is bursting at the seams.  Many people have spent time at home during the pandemic cleaning and sorting their closets, basements and garages.  They’ve been donating like never before. “It’s a new experience for everyone involved at the Thrift Shop.  People are literally bring truckloads of great things to donate and our volunteers are struggling with handling the volume,” commented Debbie MacDonald Moynes, executive director of Community Care for Seniors. The Thrift Shop team is grateful and everyone feels fortunate that people are so willing to donate their good used items to Community Care’s Thrift Shop.

The results are in for Community Care’s Tag Day

July 2, 2020 Press Release The results are in for Community Care’s Tag Day In the 36th year that Community Care has organized Tag Day the agency realized $1,145.00. It was a “virtual” tag day this year as the event was moved online. During the pandemic organizers couldn’t ask volunteers to do their traditional roles of having donation boxes around their necks while stationed at businesses throughout Picton, Bloomfield and Wellington. “During a year when the weather is good and lots of volunteers sign up, we can realize $3,000.00.
