May 29, 2020 Press Release Community Care’s Tag Day Another tradition is modified to meet today’s requirements in the 36th year that Community Care has organized Tag Day. The agency is holding a “virtual” tag day and has moved the event online. This year it’s not possible to have volunteers do their traditional roles for this important fundraiser. Most years volunteers have donation boxes around their necks and are stationed at businesses throughout Picton, Bloomfield and Wellington, taking shifts canvassing in each location. “People can visit our website to go to the special Tag Day page where they can make a donation to support seniors to live at home,” commented Debbie MacDonald Moynes, executive director of Prince Edward Community Care.
PRESS RELEASE Friday, May 15, 2020 Prince Edward Community Care COVID-19 Services – UPDATED With the easing of restrictions Prince Edward Community Care has announced that they have reactivated the Home Maintenance program for grass cutting and garden work. Physical distancing protocols to be strictly observed. During the month of April 25 volunteers made reassurance calls to 1,943 local seniors. A total of 3,769 calls were placed in April by this team of caring volunteers. “These calls are to check in with seniors and to have a pleasant chat,” says Debbie MacDonald Moynes, executive director. “The volunteers benefit from the conversations almost as much as the people they call.” To be added to the call list seniors simply contact the
March 27, 2020 at 4:00pm Prince Edward Community Care update on services The Prince Edward County Community Care for Seniors Association continues to operate the hot & frozen Meals on Wheels program on a limited basis. “We have amazing volunteers in this community and they are willing and able to deliver the meals to the seniors who need them” commented Debbie MacDonald Moynes executive director. There have been adaptations to the delivery procedure to ensure physical distancing and safety for all. Community Care has over 1500 clients on their roster and are assembling a group of their current volunteers to make regular reassurance calls.
